I 'met' a lady on-line. But I've never actually 'met' her, so 'met' isn't quite right.

I think we could use a non-gender, semi-formal greeting.

Sir, Mr., Ma'am, MS, etc. all have 'gender'. Often you don't know...

How about "google" as a verb?

I google; you google; he/she/it googles. I googled: you googled; he/she/it googled. I would have googled; you would have googled--you get the idea.

And, what would you use as an adverb with it?

"Dear Username"...

How about a term for your spouse's former spouse? What are you to one another? Spouses-in-law? Spouse-Sisters?

What about the person your child lives with? Son-Outlaw?

We don't even have a specific all purpose word that substitutes for boyfriend or girlfriend once we are adult. I use Sweetie but it's too cutesy for some. "May I introduce my boss, Ms. Jones and her sweetie?" Nope, we need something better than "er, friend".

Language has gotten so cryptic and truncated with the advent of text messaging. Would your spouse's ex spouse just be "my SXS", and the person your child ives with would be "CP" (Custodial Parent.)

I'm still stuck for a social introduction--BF or FWB sound a little crude. How about May I introduce my boss, "Ms. Jones and her SO, John Smith?"
