Now come on, your partner has to have some kind of cause, to accuse you of being unfaithful, theres always something,things like lieing, sneaking on the phone private numbers, found numbers in pockets going out with the boys or girls on friday nights getting secret e-mails trust me they have a reason, they just havent shared it with you yet.

No, there is no reason, oh, well unless you want to count going out of town to a family members funeral

If someone constantly accuses you he has a problem with jealousy and suspicion. But you have a problem too. No one can live under such intense and accusing scrutiny without eventually doing whatever s/he is accused of...or leaving.

"Constantly accusing" would have me quite worried and unable to relax with normal activities away from his spying eye. If he can never let it go, obviously something is wrong.

If going to a funeral is the closest you've come to running around, obviously you've done nothing truly suspicious over the years.

It's by no means the same as Shakespeare's line "he who protesteth too much ...", or of the cliche "where there's smoke there's fire", but his continual vocalized worry makes me suspicious.

Is it a guilty conscious?

Is this the first time you've gone away for any length of time? Or has something else changed in your relationship or in the way you relate to him? New job, new friend(s), started working out, anything?

I agree with Isadora. I think this kind of jealousy/insecurity becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. One way or another, eventually it drives the other partner away. So if you're unhappy living like this, I'd suggest couples counseling. If he won't go, go anyway. I think it would help to explore your own role in your relationship(s), and it will help you decide what you want to do.

I would not assume that he is being unfaithful, but rather that he cannot control his jealousy. This is not a good thing and something that can really poison a relationship. Others have suggested couple's counseling and I would support that suggestion. You two need to get to the bottom of his concerns if this relationship is going to work long term.

Sounds like he's insecure. Or jealous. Or controlling. Or maybe he's getting a little something on the side himself. I don't know. But if it bothers you enough to post about, then perhaps it's time to sit him down and ask what's going on, or try couple counseling.
