animals should be vaccinated regardless of where they live. ive lived 46yrs and ill be damned if i want to die by somebodies rabid yorkie. but responsible pet owners should protect themselves and others around them.

Yes to this one. That is something every responsible pet owner should do, no questions asked.

I agree that all pets owners should have their pets vacinated for rabies. Dogs as well as cats. I had a cat for 15 years and I had her vacinated. She was an indoor cat that went out once in awhile. You never know when a pet comes in contact with an infected squirrel or any type of rabid animal.

Im sure all mean well, but I have to disagree. If you have an indoor animal I see no sence in those vacinations. The odds are so in your favor that nothing could possibly happen. Yes you can alway say anything COULD happen,,,,but it doesnt. It seem we are becoming a fear drivin people. last yr in the Dallas area we had 4 cases of rabies,,,racoons,,,we are a city of well over a million people,,,,,and a cazillion pets...(thats alot for those outside of Dallas LOL) I understand the responsible thing is the most popular veiw at the time,,but if I was to do what the vets want me to do to be responsibgle ,,it would cost me more then what I would want to pay per yr. It isnt alway the money, I have plenty ,,,its in my small way,,logic sorry if I made everyone mad. Oh yes by the way as a young boy of 7,,,, I had those 21 raby shots in my tummy,,with a needle the size of your car antenna...something you dont forget.havent had a shot since,,in the army they shot me with a air gun as I ran by,,LOL

I dont like the idea of imposing laws. I think we have too many laws, too many lawyers, too many legislators and too many cops. I think that a healthy society essentially regulates itself.
Why should a guy who lives in an area where rabies is not endemic be forced to vaccinate his animal? Why would a guy who lives in NY State, where rabies is everywhere, NOT WANT to vaccinate his animal? I live in NJ and have a dog:< that drags home any 'varmint' he can sink his teeth into. Rest assured, the dog is vaccinated.
Legislature just complicates things, costs everyone more money and makes the few, who have their hands in the till, wealthier. That, incidently, would NOT be me.

i know were talking about rabies but i lost my 2yr. old precious cat 2 weeks ago to feline lukemia. she was never outside and both her momma and daddy had been vaccinated against it. dont know what happened but i will always make sure any cat i have will have the vaccination. it tore my heart out as i held her when she passed. she trusted me and i let her down. i dont want anyone else to feel the pain that i felt for her knowing i couldnt stop her from dying.

I personally don't believe in vaccinating for rabies every year. Every other year maybe is acceptable. Rabies vaccines shorten your pets life span, especially in older dogs. This is confermed information from a few different veterinarians.
