I'm still on the second chapter, but I can understand how there may be some people who would react as you describe, especially if they didn't continue reading past the first chapter. I regret that, because they are probably some of the very ones who might benefit most from the writings.

Also, it isn't a book for the casual reader. It really does require deep concentration and for me, rereading of certain sentences, to understand what he is saying. It is already very meaningful to me, and I keep thinking of others in my family I feel would benefit from it, if they would accept it.

AieaGal, I totally agree with you, this is not a book for everyone.

I already see from the postings made by some that those are definitely the people that should be reading it....they always have opinions about everything by what someone else has said not taking the time to really find out what it is all about. What I've read so far has been very thought provoking.

I thought the webinar went very well. Not quite what I expected, but very enjoyable....I am happy they are doing a chapter at a time, that way I will have time to read them a couple of times before the next class.

I'm sure at the time of writing this Mr. Tolle had no idea Oprah would ever be involved with his book. It was very interesting when he said this was a book that wanted to be written.

As spiritedstrider said it's all in fun anyway. It will be interesting to read what everyone else has to say.

Well, I began watching the webinar last night, but several things hindered my ability to focus. There was a thunderstorm passing through our area, my internet connection kept causing pauses in the presentation and my husband became impatient. So I decided it will be best for me to download it from the Oprah.com site and watch it at a more convenient time! Maybe tomorrow. Today was filled with errands.

I hope you both (spiritedstrider and JoAnnB) were able to watch and participate easily. I'm anxious to hear more and read more of the book.

Yes, I, too, am glad they're giving us a week between sessions! It may take me that long to read the chapters once and watch the delayed sessions.

Eckhart Tolle=anti christian...gimme a break. Anyone who can conclude that what this man has to say is anti-christian simply has no idea of what this man is talking about. The focus of his work from what I can gather is to get man to tune in so that we can make a world that is more compassionate. Hey...wait a minute that sounds like something christian.

Great response! I agree with you and find it interesting how some claim books, films, ideas to be anti-Christian without actually reading, seeing or exploring the issue for themselves. I guess some people really like to judge others....and that is not very Christ-like to me.

Sorry, but my playful nature just couldn't resist...I know this isn't about Eckart's book but as long as were talking about christians and books...are any of you aware of the book "Left Behind" The premise is that God comes and takes all the christians into heaven and leaves the rest of us on earth to fight the devil. Just what we needed, another effort to divide humanity even further. So being an ex-sit-com writer I've decided to write a sequel. Same basic premise but my book is going to be "Left Behind Gladly".
