Ok, I figure it's time I got organized! I finally had a chance to see the online web class in its entirety today and I was impressed. I wasn't sure about the format of it all (as I am an educator and the idea of sitting around with the 2 of them talking didn't seem like good pedagogy to me), but I take back all those feelings of doubt now. I was moved to the point that I took 8 pages of notes!
So in that spirit, I'm thinking we can do weekly discussions on each week's class, which corresponds to the weekly chapters. People can be in this group and participate without reading the book or taking the class, if we share the ideas here.
So here are a FEW of the things that stood out for me from this first class.
Tolle says that we should ask "What does life want from me?"-- I prefer to ask "How may I serve?" but it's the same idea.
"Practice inviting moments of stillness into your life."--That is so true. Oprah advocates spending time with nature.--For me, the road was one with the power of prayer, which led to meditation, which now leads me to re-discovering the beauty of nature that I once so highly valued as a child.
I LOVE the idea of "Be there as a witness."--What a creative way to be present, or aware. I plan to use that one in some pieces I'll write.
Tolle says that "becoming still doesn't mean you go to sleep; it means you're more alert than when you were thinking."--Brilliant way of clarifying that one for me!
And I was really impressed by how he explained his ego dying at the moment he was about to take his own life. He said his thought processes had created his own suffering. The ego was "the me, the unhappy story" and he had an AHA moment when he went behind that and woke up and asked, "Who is that self that I cannot live without?"--WOW (I know I'm not being very articulate here, but that's one of my jaw dropping moments!)
Ok, now it's your turn! Thoughts, comments, ideas? I'm excited to have your participation!
