I suffered from this for over a year before I was able to get anybody to do anything about it. The only reason I'm free of it now is because I found a gynecologist that was essentially a 'yes-man' (even though it was a woman). I told her I wanted a complete hysterectomy, I didn't ask her.
Endometriosis is a tricky diagnosis because the only way to confirm it is to locate it in a laproscopic procedure. I was labeled a drug seeker, a Münchhausen, and a hypochondriac before finally having the surgery that ended my pain.
I had to take charge of my care, angering many gynecologists and and surgeons along the way. I even think I can pin-point what caused mine. I had no problems prior to an oopherectomy (removal of one ovary). I think that when that surgeon removed my left ovary and fallopian tube he left an opening for the endometrial lining to seep out into my abdominal cavity.
Would anybody else like to share their incidents or advice regarding this medical problem?
