Americans: Were you aware that, as a patient, you have responsibilities that have been specifically outlined by the U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services, supported by the American Hospital Association & American Medical Association?
Let's Talk . . . Assuming you knew these existed, do you take responsibility for you & your family's health care?? Does the health care system make it easy or hard on you to follow through with these "responsibilities"?
1. Ask questions if you have doubts or concerns.
2. Keep & bring a list of All the medicines you take.
3. Get the results of any test or procedure.
4. Talk to your doctor about which hospital is best for your health needs.
5. Make sure you understand what will happen if you need surgery.
