I am diabetic, so I use Eurecin moisturizing cream. It's as thick as lard, so you do have to work it in. In your case, a little dab'll do ya between washings.

Eurecin is also a bit pricey if you buy the brand-name product, but Walgreen's, WalMart and other chains have a "house brand" of the same product.

Since you work in health care, there may be some sample packages around, since the pharamceutical reps try to encourage doctors to recommend it to diabetic patients.

Thanks I will try that Eurecin, I have seen that in the stores, but when I look at the price, I always put it back on the shelf, it is rather pricey, but I've heard only great things about how well it tends to work on the skin. And as far as recommendations on the product,goes the health care facilities that I work at are using cheaper products at all times to save their huge budget. The deal with that is the more they save the more bonus money that get at the end of the year.

You might want to try Udder Cream. It's for cow udders to keep them soft as a dried out udder is udderly unacceptable for milking or nursing calves. It, too, is very heavy and needs to be rubbed in well but it's great stuff and it's cheap. One is called Bag Balm and sells in most pharmacies, or at any co-op, feed store. Hope it helps.

Yes, Cassy, it is safe for humans. Farmers have known about it for ever but over the last twenty years it's commercial use for humans is out selling the use for cows, that's why you can find it in pharmacies and drug stores. I have used it for years as tending cows, sheep and horses in the dead of winter tore my hands up, cracked to the point of bleeding. Bag Balm was recommended to me by an Amish neighbor - that was 30 years ago and my hands are still as soft as a babies behind. Don't live on the farm any more but I still use Bag Balm. Trust me, it's what you're grandmothers used. Just try it , you'll be sold. You can probably Google it and find where to get it close to you.

I must wash my hand much too because of work, and I use castor oil at night and when things get really dry, glob it on and use a sock over my hand to protect the sheets. Castor oil is good for many things, including swelling, and joint problems. My work demand much of my hands and I have had no problems like other in my field. The only difference I know is that I use castor oil. I buy the cold pressed at a health food store. Very different then the pharmacy stock.
