Not 40 yet (but close) love to do an action-packed film. A Rocky type. Went to a local college tv/film was the topic but you really don't learn the true acting basics. Sure somebody about 2 years ago at the Clearwater beach approached me about staring in an amature adult film, until I found out it was for and with men only.

I just finished a beginning acting course at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia. The instructor was highly professional, enthusiastic and really knew what he was doing!
So, having been bitten by the "bug," so to speak, I plan on taking another course, Movement For the Actor, at the same location this summer.
Break a leg!

I'm not currently taking acting classes, but I do teach the craft from time to time. After some 30 years in the business, I find performing gives me all the experience and knowledge I need.
However, I have taken workshops, especially when I want to keep the muscles honed.
Howabout you?

I also do not take classes at this time, but I have done a lot of theatre and film.
Altough I have taken classes, I would agree with John that learning by doing really applies here. I have learned so much simply by observing and being involved. Much more so than a class. But that is how it worked for me.
Good luck to all who are taking classes.
Keep us up to date.

For those who have done a lot of acting, I agree that classes are probably not necessary, nor helpful. However, for those of us who've never (ever) appeared on stage, I think we need to learn a few basics before attempting thespian acts.
In a similar vein, I belong to the writer's group here, and was advised that I didn't need a writing class because I've made my living writing ad copy for 25+ years. Well, I took a class anyway, and learned the basics of writing fiction . . . which is a whole 'nother animal!
You just never know . . .
Cheers,
-M
