Went to see it last night. It was fun to see them together again. Still crazy, funny and the clothes were fantastic!

But I have to say the movie was too long. They underestimated the popularity of the series. I thought that it would bring more to what has been going on with them. So, if you want nostalgia from the series, you'll get some of it.

It was good to see them again, but I'd rather have the series back than movies about them.

I know, the reviews have been deadly but overall it was very satisfying. It was like getting together again with some long lost old friends.

Missed seeing more of the 5th lady - NYC. Found some of the gals actions were out of character. The old Samantha would have jumped on her hot neighbour not peeped and pined.

And there could have been more laughs, aside from the hysterically funny scene with Charlotte "poughkeepsying" herself.

As a movie it lost some edgyness, hard to maintain the pace, wit, irony of the series for 2+ hours. Indeed, it was fun seeing the girls again but I'd rather nave the series back.

We went to the 1030 am showing on a Monday morning. Glad we did, just a few in the theatre so no one got mad when we said "oh cute dress!"... I didn't read the reviews, the movie was fine with me.

Sex and the City - my take

I went to Sex and the City last night. Even for the early show the theater was nearly full. SATC was a lot better than Indiana Jones. Maybe because the story lines didn't have to be developed as much - great, snappy screen writing with plenty of turning points. If you have to get up in the middle of an Indiana Jones chase scene for a popcorn, you wouldn't have missed anything upon your return - either the chase would be escalating or they'd be on to another explosion. If you miss part of a character-driven movie, you're likely to miss a key line or turning point. There may not be the spectacular up and down action sequences but SATC has plenty of emotional ups and downs.

It's a tear jerker.

For guys who don't think the movie is for guys, I beg to differ. It's all about men. You know how Clint Eastwood made "Letters from Iwo Jima" and "Sons of Our Fathers" - both movies about Iwo Jima but each from the Japanese and American perspectives? What if HBO made a parallel movie based the points of view of Big, Steve, Smith and Harry? It would end up being a 30 minute movie - which wouldn't be much of a money-maker! The SATC men didn't have much character development in the series. I suppose more character dimensions could be developed through flashbacks. The only reason the men know each other is through Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. I'd say this mirrors real life. The four really don't have much contact, other than when the girls get together. One key turning point happens between Miranda and Big. I thought the subtext is that they may have had some sort of relationship - probably business - she being a lawyer. There's a scene with Harry in which he talks about interaction with Big - Harry's a lawyer too, so they may have had business in common as an icebreaker to their Carrie discussion. By the way, what does Big do for a living. He goes off to the firm every day. Maybe he's an investment banker or accountant or lawyer. He's like Ward Cleaver going to the office. I don't think we ever learn where Barney Rubble works either.

What about family members. Miranda's mother died and I think she has a sister. I don't ever recall any other family members. We got to know more about the guys through their mothers. Steve's mom; Charlotte's first husband Trey's nosey mom Bunny. The quartet rely on advice from themselves rather than having any contact with their mothers. Maybe we just haven't heard about those conversations.

I thought the big challenge was making a feature movie out of a 30-minute TV show. The movie is 150 minutes long and moved along quickly. There are some runway scenes and photo shoots that take up some time, but other than those, the story lines of the TV series hold together. I'd be interested in hearing from non-SATC fans what they thought of the movie.

I won't spoil anything for you, but the moral of the story for me is, relationship choices don't change as time goes forward, but the stakes get higher.

I can't imagine there being a sequel.

HBO's next revival project - I'm hoping for "The Sopranos".
