Go with an open mind or wait to rent it and watch it alone in either setting. Thumbs up? No. Hand under chin, pondering story.
New day to post what I have been thinking but omitted completely:
This film is about an American silent film actor who loses use of his legs in an accident while making a movie-- say, in 1920? In his hospitalization he is heartbroken over the loss of his girlfriend and his legs. He befriends a young 5 year old girl/patient and shares his incredible fantastic stories with her. He manipulates her to steal morphine from the dispensary in his attempt at suicide. The little girl is captivated by his story telling and sees her new friend as her hero in and out of his story telling. She steals some morphine pill for him.
You will need to follow it to the conclusion because my telling will only make it worse.
Have I ruined your $10 investment or date? Go anyway. Prove me wrong.
