Aaahhhh, nothing like another multi-pet household to make me feel sane!

I have three dogs and one cat. The cat pushes the dogs around including the 90-pounder. This is no tiny kitty we are talking about here. She's 15 lbs at last weigh-in. Whitney. She kicks dog butt... and often humans too....

Gman, Gryphon is the King. 14 y/o Airedale terrier. I have had Dales my whole life since age 3. I have never had one live as long as he, usually 12 is all you get from the breed. Eh, he has typical Old People Problems... sensitive stomach, arthritis, back problems (genetic, inherited from his father's side), cataract in one eye... he's just my Old Man.

Then we have The Dolly Llama (notice, she spells it differently than His Holiness) and Snert. Snert is a Pom. She's old, I think she is 14 now too (I inherited her). That dog will outlive me I truly believe.

The DL is "ten going on three." That dog... she is something else. Every day seems to be brand new for her. Perhaps I should not have named her after a Jack Russel Terrier I once met....

All my animals are geriatric now, senior citizens. I love them, but will not replace them over the course of nature's run. Four is too many for one person to care for and work f/t, etc.

I see myself more aligned as a "one cat, one Airedale" home at some point in the future....

Bob and Ray are my pretend children. Bob is the love of my life. She converted me from a dog suspecter to a dog lover. She sleeps with me (always touching), she is on my lap or under my shirt at every opportunity. She and I are true friends.

Ray....Ray is my husband's attempt to recreate the Bob relationship for himself. Ray is only about 2 months old. He is my avatar. He is very wiggly. He chewed my phone charger in two. He follows Bob everywhere and uses his butt to smack her out of the way when she's on my lap. He doesn't bark, he squeals like a pig. He squeals at all the big dogs on a walk. He has no idea why Bob is sniffing all the good spots on the walk but he sniffs anyway and pretends he knows what he's doing.

AND he's not wild about the husband. He likes Bob and me. We don't like him as much as he wants us to.

Rascal is a white, old [16y/o), cat with a crinkled ear. We got him from my Mother-in-Law, who lives on the first farm out of a town, so the strays come her way. Rascal was born to one of those strays. He's got digestive issues that frequently 'jam him up,' but we've pretty much figured out how to prolong the time between vet enemas. He still acts like a much younger cat, amazingly. Very affectionate cat--loves people.

Pogo, now a 65lb'er, is a Shepherd/Rottweiler mix. He was dumped out as a pup and came by my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's house when my daughter was staying there for a week. My daughter begged me to rescue him, and I fell for it. You couldn't ask for a more non-aggressive, loyal companion--LOVES people. We jog/take long walks frequently. I think he's part 'sled dog'--he LOVES the cold weather, preferring to lay down outside in the snow. And the snow never melts on him--he always looks like he's been spray-painted. He's my best friend.

My son rescued 'Seymour,' a calico-looking cat, while he was out of town. Seymour was being abused by people, and my son said if the cat was still there on his last day, he'd bring him home. He's still fairly skittish at times [from the abuse--my son won't talk about it], content to sit in a darkened basement for hours, but hangs around for affection, too, and has warmed up quite a bit over the yrs. If I can ever figure out how camera/computer stuff works, I'll get pictures, sorry.

Yea! I am so glad there is a pet group. My two "kids" are Hopper, an English Cocker Spaniel and Lucy, an English Springer. They are both two. Hopper's "nickname" is the "Velvet Fudge" because he's so mellow and kind of chubby and Lucy is "Yoinky" because of her love of snatching shoes from closets, and really anything she can reach. I am thinking of marketing a plush toy line. :-> (just kidding).

Well I guess we'd fit right in here. I've always had some kind of pet. Usually dogs, it wasn't until college when I had some cats as pets. Right now we are a zoo. We have 5 dogs, 5 cats and 3 guinea pigs. 2 of the dogs are puppies we rescued that had been roaming the area around my wifes office. we took them and have placed them with a rescue agency in town, they didn't have any more room at their house so we are fostering them as they get their shots and neutering. The problem will be if/when they get adopted, our whole family loves having them around. Well except for when i have to do all the cleaning up after them. All of our animals are some kind of rescue. Our oldest dog was left by the side of the road tied to a stop sign. our other two dogs from the shelter. one cat from the shelter, the 2 others from abandonment when the neighbors moved out and left them behind. one was half dead outside of the library in 100+ heat last summer, we doctored him back to health. the last was part of a family that was living outside of my old office building, the rest of the family got caught by the animal shelter and I helped catch him and didn't want him to go to the shelter. its crowded and fun and can get annoying sometimes but we love our pets. will try to post pictures when i can.

Hubby and I have had two rescued Springers and are committed to rescue. Our last Springer girl, Bella, was a real sad case. She came to us after being brought back from the brink of death. Severely malnourished, anemic from chicken fleas, missing an eye and had been attacked by other dogs. She recovered and used to practically do somersaults when it was time to go for her walkies but was plagued by a stomach problem and then feel victim to vestibular syndrome. She walked with her head tilted to the side after that and never really recovered fully. The last year she descended into senility. We waited too long to ease her suffering I think, kept hoping one of the drugs would help her. It was four very difficult years, and we were exhausted both physically and emotionally at the end, but still have no regrets for bringing her into our lives.
