I everyone....I just joined this group today and wanted to say hello from Texas. I hope to make some terrific friends here. I have to run right now and do errands, but I will return this evening...hopefully.

I have sort of a dream of Texas. I haven't been there, but I've read Lonesome Dove about five times, and I love Edie Brickell and Nancy Griffith and Lyle Lovett. I watch that movie "A Trip to Bountiful." And I can't figure out why I'm moved to think that way. It's probably not that accurate of a picture of Texas, but... Can you maybe see a little bit of what I'm seeing in my mental concept of "Texas?" Or am I misled?

Hi, Mysti & Liz! I'm also in Texas; I live in New Braunfels! Nice to see some "neighbors" here!
Cocoa, my brother and sister moved to Texas when I was an infant (they are 24 and 19 years older than I), and they've extolled the virtues of this state so much I was sick of hearing it, and I never, ever wanted to live in Texas! Well, of course when my hubby graduated from college, guess where we ended up?
We moved from my New Orleans hometown to Dallas, which I admittedly did not care for (though the shopping was fabulous!), and finally ended up (long story) in New Braunfels -- and I never, ever want to leave!! The Hill Country isn't really what one typically thinks of when thinking of Texas, I don't believe. But we love it SO much! There's no "old west" aura about this town, it's quite German -- so probably lightyears away from your vision of Texas!
