Like you I read what they write, look at profile, then send a invite. Some I hear from, others not. Get a lot of women in there mid to late 20's. They all say they've read profile and would be interested in a long term relationship. They want me to view their pics., (porno sites). I'm only here to chat with like minded, or not, and a form of friendship.I gotenough grief in my life without inviting these " honey girls" TBD is a great place for chatting,forems.

Maybe you should thank her for the early warning that she gets inappropriately attached. But I agree, the "I don't just collect them" comment was snarky and undeserved. Again, though... better you know about some weird attitudes early on.

I have some friends here that I communicate with on a nearly daily basis, others that are every week or so. I have some that I have opened my heart to, and some that I haven't heard a thing from since we friended each other.

It's all good. You're finding your friends on here the same way a lot of us are. For myself, at least, this is really kind of my first shot at social networking online, so I'm finding my way here too.

I don't think it's collecting if you have a lot of friends. It's like real life. You have certain friends that you really hit it off with and you have a lot in common with. Those friends you really get close to and talk to a lot. Then you have other friends that you talk to every once in a while and that's enough to stay current. Maybe someone who has one particular interest in common with you. Then you have acquaintances who are interesting people you talk to once in a blue moon. They are all important in their own way to you. If I wanted to collect something, it wouldn't be people online. So what's the big deal with how many friends you have?

Why worry about it?

They're your friends, not hers. Everybody here is different. Some people feel validated if they have a large number of friends. Maybe they have security issues, I don't know. Other folks don't give a rat's rear end.

As for me, I can't quite figure out what the actual "purpose" of friends is. I don't ask anybody to be friends, myself. If someone's standards are actually low enough to ask me to be their friend, I figure they are as desperate as I am. I will look at the profile and quite often accept..

Luckily, I have subsequently run across these folks in various topics and, for the most, part, I am glad I accepted. There have been one or two I probably shouldn't have accepted and one or two I probably should have.

But you know what? Those are the folks on my friends list; they meet my criteria (low as they might be). Your criteria are your own business. There's nothing that says they have to be logical or even make sense. That's the nice thing about them being yours.

So don't sweat it.

Yea, what's up with that? LOL Katherine and I rarely talk, but knowing she's still "out here" is nice.

I don't often send out invitations, but I do receive a lot. If I know we don't seem to have anything in common, then I send them an e-mail and ask what it was that prompted their invite. I don't accept as "friend" if all their posted sites are sex & a looking for Ms. Goodbar kinda thing. : - )
