When you think back to your own past, what is your earliest childhood memory. How old were you? Where were you at? Why do you think it left an impression on you after all these years?
I have two very early childhood memories, both are clear and I know from discussions with my parents that they are real. The first memory may be the oldest. I know I'm a toddler, no more than two years-old. My parents are putting me in the back seat of our 1950 Pontiac Star chief. As I crawl in the back seat I'm holding my favorite toy, Froggy the Gremlin squeaky toy. For some reason I push Froggy out the car door. I am expecting my mom to pick it up. She doesn't and we drive away. My last site of Froggy is him laying on the ground asking, Why?
My next early memory is in Pine Bluff Arkansas at the county fair grounds for the county fair in Jefferson County ad Fair. My father is carrying me. I know this is a early memory because my dad was only 5'9" at his tallest. I, on the other had grew to 6'4" by the time I was in Jr. High School. I could still be picked up and carried. We had been walking through the farm exhibits where they showed the farm animals and had just walked i where the into the exhibit hall where the vendors hawk their wares and new gadgets you can only find at a fair. We were looking at all the exhibits when a vendor stops my dad and says. "How about a set of Encyclopedia's for the boy?" My dad says, "No Thanks". The salesman says "Sounds like your pretty tight." (Tight with money) My Dad says I'll be a lot tighter if Eisenhower is elected President"
I have no idea why I remember this so clearly.
What is your earliest childhood memories. Please take time to share your early memories.
