One of the best shows ever on tv. I watched and still rewatch every episode. I agree with all of your assessments...great story, great actors, great everything. We don't get much tv like that, do we?

I've begun watching the Wire now that they are showing it on BETV, and I think I will probably rent it. Same producer and much of the same intelligence and intensity as Homicide.

It is definitely on my Top 10 list.

Yes, I have very fond memories of "Homocide, Life on The Streets",

not just because the series was one of the best police dramas ever, and probably one of the more realistic portrayals of police work.

But also I felt a connection to the show because I only lived 2 blocks from the Fells Point Recreation Pier building and parking garage that they used for the precinct building in the show.

(Just far away enough so that i didn't often lose my parking spot to the production crew trailers.

I even had dinner several times at the "Waterfront Hotel" restaurant that was the "Bar" that the detectives bought across the street.

As an added bonus, a few of the star actors lived in nearby condos and hotels and were very friendly if you saw them "on the streets" of our neighborhood.

If you have access to Sleuth network, this show is run every day so you can get a chance to revisit the show. Even though it sometimes gets a bit ponderous, most of the shows hold up extremely well, especially in comparison to the dreck that's on.

I stll watch on cable WGN whenever I am lucky enough to have a weekday off.

I totally agree. I loved this show when it first came on and watched all the way to the end. Great actors. Not to mention perhaps the only Baldwin brother that could actually act. Andre Braugher was by far one of the most talented on this team. The episode where he has his stroke was so moving and the depth of range in his acting when Frank came back after the stroke was amazing.
