Reality TV

I am totally new here as of this moment so I hope I can manage posting a message here... I joined this group because I enjoyed seeing what others have shared AND because I have to admit to loving - and really hating - reality tv shows!

It is about time for the first Survivor (2/7) and Big Brother (2/12) shows to premier. Project Runway is midseason and Top Chef and America's Next Top Model are on the way I am scared to think too much about why I am attracted - and repelled by - this stuff, but I just know I am going to need a place to comment very soon.

Anyone up for it?

Haven't gotten into Top Chef. I have been watching too many cooking reality show (Hell's Kitchen, Iron chef, etc) including Kitchen Nightmares!

ANTM I kinda got out of in the 3rd season.

Survivor- GAWD!!!!!! I want to stop watching that soooo bad!!!! And every Thursday when comes on I can't help myself! I feel so cheesey!!!

GAWD it's good to talk to somebody about this without being kicked in the teeth for you're opinion! (or for watching!)

I am a reality show junkie and proud of it. I got hooked with the first Survivor, and have been watching even since. I got tired of regular shows and it was something different so I watched and got hooked. If there was a reality show on I usually checked it regardless how bad it sounded. I watch Project Runway (finale this week), Top Chef, The bachelor, Big Brother but my all time favorite is Amazing Race. I wait impatiently for new seasons to start and hold my breath each spring when the new schedules are announced for CBS. I catch ANTM on reruns because it seems something else is on then. In the past I have watched American Idol, but haven't watched much of it this year, but now that they are getting to final 12 I'll probably start. The only one I can't watch is (or was since it's been canceled) is Fear Factor.

I'm sure this is a much longer reply than you wanted but once I got started ...

Fear Factor, Gawd! I will never forget the first time I saw it! I remember waking up in the hospital....something about being passed out in my living room?

Glad to see I'm not the only reality show junkie. A couple of ones that I would add that haven't been mentioned:

Sol1tary on Fox Reality: To me this is the best one because even though you are competing against other contestants you never see them. In the competitions the first person to quit is eliminated, but the contestants are not informed of that. So someone might quit 10 minutes into a challenge but other people continue to do it for another hour or two.

Apprentice UK: Not as commercial as the US version. It's more about hands selling and dealing.

Whew, look at my babbling about something as silly as reality tv ;)

I too am new here. I love Survivor and the Amazing Race. I have watched Big Brother but not so much this season. I loved Hell's Kitchen. Oh and for some reason I can't get away from Idol either,lol.

I'm on the Americal Idol Thread as well, more conversation regarding the show there.

Now I am really excited about Hell's Kitchen returning on the 1st. From the scenes I've witnessed it's gonna be great! But it's always great!

I can't wait the see all the comments regarding that show!
