You said your husbands friends. What about yours? Do you ever see your old boy friends with a group? Do you go with him when he goes out with them? Looks to me that you need to talk to him about this and tell him that it makes you feel, well very uncomfortable. Ask him if he would have a problem with you hanging out with your old boy friend(s)? I know that my wife would not like this and I would not hang out with an ex, even if we had friends together unless we saw them together. Lots of men don't seem to care or know what the big deal is. But you wouldn't take a ex drinker or user to a party that had drugs or booze because of the obvious temptation. A married man should think of his family first, then him self. I think that you are on the rite track on having friends, new friends together. Do you have friends from your kids. That works for me, meeting through your kids always works. Have some of you kids friends parrents over for a party or BBQ. I would try that first. The other way only will cause you more grief.
