Introduce yourself

I have been involved with online education since 1999. I currently publish the Onlinesapiens Blog and I also created the College 2.0 community to learn and stay updated with online education in higher education.

I started this group to help adults continue their education, either benefit from online learning to earn a college degree or just help them to use internet tools and resources for personal learning.

Update: I have now a new blog to motivate adults to Return to College

I am currentley working on my A + certification. I found out from my sister you do not have to pay for school to do this class, just buy a really good book from Barnes & Noble and you can get your certification. I am going to start with A + for Dummies then work through comptia A + deluxe edition to get my certification. you can make decent money doing this type of work. I already have 2 yrs. of basic college behind me.

I am now retired after 20-some years as an academic adviser at Florida State University. I have often said that college, like youth, is wasted on the young. One of the great pleasures of retirement is that I can now read for as many hours as I want, or listen to a lecture inline, or explore the Library of Congress website. I am adamant about continuing to learn, with or without a teacher.

I got my BS in my mid-fifties after about 10 years of part-time attendance while I worked. The state of Florida has a very nice tuition waiver program for its employees, and FSU augments that with a wonderful scholarship which I was lucky enough to have to complete my final 30 hours. That grant allows one to work part-time (or not at all) for the period of the grant. Pay checks and benefits continue and the scholar's department is given money to hire interim help. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it really does exist and many folks have taken advantage of it.

My interest now is certainly not in getting grades or a degree, but in getting knowledge and new things to think about.

I am a higher ed professional, having served most recently (2007) as an Academic Advisor at the University of South Florida's College of Nursing. Prior to that I worked in proprietary education as a Student Services Manager and prior to that I served as a Program Manager for Florida A&M University.

I am so glad to see this group and I'm really happy to be a part of this group!

I LOVE online learning - just love it. However, I always caution people that it's not for the faint of heart. Some people erroneously believe that online course are easier - nada. Online courses require more self-discipline and self- motivation. I earned my graduate degree in Management & Administration of Education Program from Nova Southeastern University online. My classmates were from all over - even Iraq!

I'll do my best to share any resources I can.

Hi there Emapey,

I am currently working on my Bachelor of Science degree in education. I will be done in the next two semesters. I am studying to become a teacher, but I think this is a great way for people to find out some information about continuing their education. Thank You!

I'm David. Always interested in advancing my education and body of knowledge. Languages are of great interest to me. Literature, history, art, too.

Hi all thanks for the invite... I have been involved in teaching from teens to adults over about 18 or so years. Being "full of my self" I thought I knew it all but found out one day to my horror I knew VERY little! and so the journey began.

It started when I went to a business seminar on sales and was blown away by the presenters ability to get the audience in the palm of his hand and keep us there! I have striven to be at that level ever since.

interested in excellerated learning methodologies and engaging learners any which way you can...
