I have struggled with this also, but I am being more selective on who/what I want in a school. The first is to check and see what accreditations they may or may not have. That will narrow your choices, then it is curriculum, status to the workforce and time involvement are my next items to research. Good Luck!

My college experience has been a blend of in-class and online courses through Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. ASU has a great program that is completely online for technical writing.
I have participated in many discussions/workshops regarding distance education and I have found that most colleges and universities have invested time and money in developing online programs that are either ready now or will be in the very near future. NAU has several online degree programs.
Often the local public universities or community colleges are a better choice if cost is a factor, and the bonus is that there is in-person support when needed. Not all online courses are well-designed and delivered, so spend time researching the program - if there is not much online information available to prospective students, then you can be assured that the quality of the program is not where it needs to be.

I just applied to Eastern Michigan University online studies for dietetics. They have a full example of the many ways you will utilize their course online and a tutorial to show you the way. I am waiting a response to my application, but I am hopeful that I will get accepted.

Virtually every college now have online programs - they have to, just to stay marketable!
Just a suggestion - I would look locally first! Check out your neighborhood or regional college. You may find that the level of support for their programs is far greater than national programs, especially if counseling, tutoring or just meeting your instructor is important to you!
Agreed as long as they have the coursework and/or degree program you are looking for. In my case, there aren't any colleges in my area that have dietitics. Apparantly, there aren't many colleges or universities that do. I wish there was a school I could attend right in my area, for the social interaction as well as having the professors and counselors right there to assist. I live right near USF, but they do not have that program.
I agree also. Try local first, if possible. It also depends on the kind of program you are looking for. The one's I would recommend are Marylhurst, Boston University, Granite State and The New School. I have enjoyed working with the instructors at the New School.
