Welcome! I'm in an online master's program now, but I'm thinking of switching to on-campus because of the isolation -- but then, I'm not sure I have the time to commute to class.

I signed up for three on-line classes next semester.. I am not sure if I will keep all three yet, I do have one in college full time in Rolla and things are always popping up with him.

I had the same experience with being the Older Student. Most students in my masters program were also 18-21. I ended up 'mothering' several of them, helping them cope with various personal problems and encouraging them into finishing their degrees. But I formed no lasting relationships.

Well I got a "B" in my class this semester. My grade was a 89.6785.....almost an A!

I just hope I can swing the online courses now!

Often on a Masters level the area of study will have very different age profiles, some areas are mostly composed of second career people some by kids. The same is also true of colleges/universities. Making references to Bobby Benson and the B-bar-B ranch or Sky King to a bunch of people who have never lived in a world without PCs/Macs can be most frustrating.

Hang in there, you'll be fine. I attended several classes on-line but that is actually much harder depending on the school. When I was taking my management classes I had so much paper to write I thought I would go crazy. I also finished my Masters on-line and the bit with the Thesis almost killed me. Fortunately, as a registered nurse we are required to keep up with current medicine so I was somewhat used t studying.

I am returning to Law school next year and that will be a challenge.

It's never too late to go back to school and you will be better for it.

Take a break when you need to and press on. My mother used to tell me, that time will pass regardless if I am in school or not so mind as well get a degree out of it.

I think the first semester is the worst as you try to figure out boundaries...

I have been going to college for 16 years! First at the community college, and then after I earned an Associate Degree I had to go to a university to finish the degree. I attend the University of Maryland where there are over 30,000 students, and I was very lonely that first semester; I thought I didn't belong because like you, I saw 18-21 year olds and I am in my 50's. But now, I realize I do belong, and I love it. I will graduate next December (god willing and the creek don't rise!)
