I think that going back to college, or in my case going for the first time at age 50 requires a few things. Desire to go, ambition to get through it and better your life, applying oneself to one's studies and a support system. I know some people do it alone without anyone to support them but hopefully that also means they don't have naysayers.
I decided to go to college for respiratory care. I was excited to have made this decision, it is something major in my life that I have thought about for a long time. I told my Mom and she laughed at me. My husband tells me I can't handle the math and my daughter just rolls her eyes.
Needless to say, I am hurt, but I am also concerned that I will have problems going to school because they won't pitch in and help. If they think this is some sort of joke or that I am a failure before I start how much are they going to want to help me out.
This is frustrating.....and yes the hurt does stir some anger.
