I like this idea. My education is definitely of the school of life variety these days as I live with my elderly Mom and help her cope with depression. Today I learned that not all early morning phone calls are bad news. My sister called to say a picture of her daughter made the front page of the local paper cheering for her high school basketball team. Thanks for this idea.

I am new to this group (thanks for the invite, emapey)and this is an older discussion, butI guess anytime is a good time to offer a differing perspective. I try to take the approach of learning something new everyday and doing at least one nice thing for someone else everyday. I work in the legal profession and today I learned more about E-discovery. I am trying to update my legal skills and keep up with ever changing technology within my field. I have 17 years of experience, but I don't want to become a dinosaur. I want to stay current and use my experience to advance/assist others as opposed to hinder progress. Too many of my collegues with similar levels of experience are content to stress their experience, but are resistent to learning the current technology. I am trying to avoid that position and hope I am never perceived as someone who has nothing to contribute except resistence.
