How awesome!!! Good for you! I don't know you and I'm incredibly proud of you! I remember how nervous I was when I took my math placement test (as it had been 20 some years since I had college algebra) and I too was amazed I tested into algebra! YOU ROCK!!!!!

Don't be too hard on your husband. Although his joke was mean, this transition will be hard for him, too. My husband was not verbally supportive when I went back to school at 42, but he stayed up to keep me company while I did homework every night, and quizzed me when I needed to study for tests.

Maybe your husband is secretly worried that if you get the degree you'll be "too good" for him and will leave him. A little reassurance on your part might help.

Then again, maybe he's just a jerk.

My husband at the time (we're now divorced) was not supportive at all. In fact he made fun of me to his friends. He, BTW, was a teacher - someone who was educated so you would have thought he would be supportive. Oh well, just another reason we aren't married anymore.

I was the same way taking my placement tests - it had been 20 yrs for me too. But we did it and continued on! Yea for us!

Dawn! You go girl! I'm a math major with a year left now, but I'm here to tell you that from what I've seen, math is the scariest thing on the planet for most people. You did awesome! I'm proud of you! Be proud of yourself!
