I can't imagine that an online PhD exists! I'd suggest looking at 'real' universities to see if they offer online Doctorates.

I would suggest looking at major universities and seeing what programs the are offering. Since so many people can't just leave their jobs to pursue advanced degrees, more universities and colleges are developing online or partially online programs and distance courses. I will be attending UIC which is a major university and well respected. I am sure the content I will receive there will mirror any landbased program. I have never looked at programs other than nursing but I would imagine there are other disciplines being offered in the online format. Happy hunting.

actually I have found three so far that offer over 90% of the work online. The only problem I have right now is the restraint of time. Two jobs a family and writing a book limits my time so I do need something more flexible. Good advise and that is the way I have begun my quest. Thanks..

good idea. I have found three so far and all three are very well respected and accrediated. Like you say with 2 jobs, a family,(thats two daughters both high maintence) and writing a book I have about 14 seconds a day I can work on this project. Joking but I do need something flexible. Yes I have looked at UP. tey are a bit expensive. I am looking at Capella, Argusey and Walden. Walden seems to be the best of the three.

Don't mean to be a nubnose but unless you have tons of energy and don't need much sleep ... a little focusing might be in order here. It's pretty difficult to complete a PhD if you do it in your 20's with no family and no job.

Do you really want to complete the PhD? If you're interested in the process and don't mind dragging it out i.e. maybe never completing it then you're OK.

But if you really want to complete it maybe you should look at the other activities in your life. Obviously you can't give up the family and probably not your job.

But how about the 2nd job and the book? A gut check might be in order. What do you think would make you feel most fulfilled 10 or 20 years from now?

Maybe you could write the book after you complete the PhD or vice versa.
