All the time if two people have lived together and bother noticing what the other likes and what you are out of. That isn't mind reading. A rat in a maze could do it. It is called learning by repetition.

That's not mind-reading. It's knowing you well. No one can read a lover's mind. That's marriage counseling 101. It's great when things happen like your wife anticipating your shopping list. But it's more important for couples to tell each other clearly what they need to make the relationship work. No one should ever expect a partner to read their mind.

Sounds like you two are really in synch. How wonderful for you. But don't confuse that with mind reading. When we expect our spouse to read our mind rather than tell him/her what we want/need, we are only asking for trouble. Keep in tune with her - that's great. But also state your wants and needs clearly.

Thanks, Talia. We've been married 26 years. Guess we just think alike. It's still weird, though. Happens a lot with us. At least I'm not a rat like Uncle Milty would have you believe. ;)

With tongue in cheek,I can read my SO's mind. I pay close attention to what he say's and does, so it isn't hard to figure out what he's trying to say. I can also always tell what he's looking for, for the same reason. Not only can I finish his sentences, I can start most of them ! Most of the time, I CAN read his mind, there just isn't a lot of material available. He's mostly a collection of repeat short stories.
