The fact that you labeled him a "good" guy before his shenanigans with who calls whom, gives you a disadvantage before you start. All you know for sure is that he is a good writer. He is proving to be a control freak and setting it up so you have to make all the moves. He sure do want a sure thing ... sure 'nuf!

He is a player and your chasing him makes you appear desperate.

Send him a brief email stating that you will not chase him. If he wants you, he has your email address and he can set up the next stage by asking your permission to call at which time you may give him your phone #. Make it a little difficult for him. If he wants you to chase him, you know already where he stands. Don't allow fantasy or desperation to lead you further down a blind alley. Nobody is worth that much effort. He is proving with all his moves that he is either not serious or has a personality defect that isn't your responsibility to try to fix.

Many great on line people are great only on line. They create a persona and play it because they have the ability to use written words but in person, it all falls apart. The true test is when normal expectation comes into play as it is now for him.

Lady_L...I sympathize with you...I, too, met a very nice gentleman online recently. We didn't actually meet until we had corresponded for 8 weeks. When we did meet, it was just too good to be true. We had been seeing one another for the past 10 weeks and had plans to spend the day together when he just cut off his communication with me. When he didn't call me to firm up our tentative plans I tried to contact him...I left phone messages, text messages, and email, but he has not had the courtesy to call and explain what happened. I am baffled by his behavior because he seemed like a mature person who was ready for an honest, open relationship...however, now I am doubting that he is...why do men act so badly?

nwreich, cowardice is a human trait, not a man's specifically. Women have been known to do that too - simply disappear without an explanation. It's rude beyond belief. Think if you had become further involved with someone so inconsiderate!

Isadora is correct. Women have never gotten back to me after a "blind date" and I'm ashamed to say I've done the same. It seems to be what passes for online etiquette these days.
