I have never had a problem with telling my hubby what is making me smile and love him at that moment.

But, get this. I find out special moments that make him smile about me by him telling me...what he told someone else .....about me...instead for telling me direct. Did u get that? Yeah, well after 23.5 yrs, I'll take it however I can get it. lololololo, CyntW

It's sad but true: Many couples don't express appreciation for one another. And those who do could probably do it more, myself included. Next time my wife does something I appreciate, I'm going to say so.

I had somethng similar which made me feel tremendously appreciated. Several yeas ago I met a woman colelague of my husband's and she said, "I've heard so much about you and all I can say is that I hope my husband talks about me to others the way yours does about you." I have no idea what he said to her, but who cares?

Many years ago, I heard someone make the comment that humans are unique in that they treat people that they don't know with more courtesy than those that they love. As I considered the comment, I realized that this is often true. Since that time, I have tried to make an effort to treat my loved ones with at least the same amount of respect I would someone I was meeting for the first time. I believe letting your partner know how much they are appreciated is like any other aspect of a relationship in that it requires work and attention. I've also tried to take it a step further and take every opportunity to compliment people I come into contact with. You never know what kind of day a person has had. Your comment on the beautiful shade of blue in their eyes might make their day!

That may be the one thing I do right in being married! I don't think I'm really good at the marriage thing but not a day goes by that I don't tell my husband something positive about himself...whether how "pretty" he looks (okay so I pick out his clothes - he still looks super nice every morning going off to work) or how helpful and kind he is. "Thank you for (fill in the blank)" and "I appreciate your help" are daily utterances, as is a heartfelt "I love you". I brag on him to people right in front of him - I love to brag about him! The other day I discovered he is having fruit smoothies for lunch several times a week instead of something less healthy and I just kvelled with pride that he was doing something good for himself and I totally let him know. He's a grown-up and I can't tell him what to eat - I make healthy meals and he eats them (the man actually ASKS for a salad with dinner now - Yea!) Anyway I let him know that I was proud of him for making good food choices...that counts, right???

Our last disagreement was over who was going to die first - neither of us wants to live without the other - we know we CAN live without each other, we just don't WANT to. My husband is a terrific human being and I tell him so on a regular basis. I'm lucky to be married to him and I tell him THAT on a regular basis too.
