I have two of those Missing Persons also! I just noticed today. Their faces are gone and you cannot access their old names. The names are in black, unlike the rest of my friends with blue access names.

I think they quit?? Don't know.

Maybe they don't post for a period of time and they are eliminated?

Well, we were talking about "Writer's Block" issues and it wouldn't seem like he'd just quit. Very odd and disturbing, tho' I won't waste anymore time figuring it out. A bit creepy--that's all. Thanks KarenSme and Gene W. for your replies.

Belle, most people whose accounts are closed on TBD do so of their own volition, for whatever reason. Unless you shared personal information with the TBD member, it's hard to see how "dangerous offline situations like stalking" would happen. Of course, if you receive a private message on TBD that makes you uncomfortable, please flag it as inappropriate so we can help.

I thought this person was "disappeared" because of harassment of others. Just seemed an abrupt end to questions and responses about the art of writing.

Like the little poem states:

People come and people go

Many people get tired of being here and ask the administration to remove their names and profiles from the active list. Others leave without removing anything. A very few get removed for offenses against members or vile personalities that hurt others.

This is a fluid community and don't take it personally.

Remember, these aren't "real" friends. They are images on a screen. If my neighbor disappeared without a trace and left the dog behind, I might be worried enough to call the cops but TBDers ... They are fun when I click on the computer but they aren't invited to break bread with me ... at least none yet.

One day they are your "best friend" and the next day they move on. No obligations here. It is effemeral and in the ether, there are no contracts.

Stick to those that arer here and forget about the ones who are gone ... unless you have traded e-mails with them in which case, if they are gone, you still can contact them. That is more real than anything inside a program.

Thanks. I thought the person was a little too friendly, and when this person disappeared, I wondered if this person was harassing someone and was evicted. I'm very satisfied with all the generous answers here, so please don't feel you need to provide more comments.
