Have a wonderful almost-8 year old son with autism. He's considered "moderate - not high-functioning Aspberger's, but not severe. My blood glucose is borderline, and I keep postponing any further tests. Some days it's just enough to juggle therapies and meltdowns - I don't want to add anything else to the mix yet. I know I have to deal with it soon, but summertime seems to be a good time to keep my head in the sand :-)

I do, I have a GIGANTIC sense of humor, most days its all that gets me thru the day. Life sometimes just seems like one kick in the junk after the next. The fun part is as you read about diabetes how much more fun it gets. All the lovely health risks it has and can contribute to. Eyes, heart, kidneys, liver... gotta luv it. I used to drink TONS of soda, but kicked that habit the day after diagnosis. I smoke ( I know, I am working on it) but get this lovely statistic: Diabetes folks are 6 times more likely to have heart problems that normal folks. Then you add that smoking diabetics are 10 more times likely than regular diabetics to have heart problems. Im at 16 times and climbing...and no heart disease in family, wonder if that knocks me down a few times... hmmm. My son is great, his problem is some minor social behaviors, but overall development and communications. He talks, and is about half his age mental development. He understands everything you say, just isnt conversational yet. He has constant progress and retention so teachers/doctors/therapy folks all positive. Just those once in while days, you know what I mean. anyway good to know others can relate. Trang

I can feel how you are. My wife has type 2.

we have two special needs adult children.

Our daughter has multiple disorders and

lives in a group home. Our son has high

functioning asperger syndrome. We have been

involved with them with help of the state

and counselors.
