I don't even know how I stumbled onto TBD, but it was probably through Facebook.
Anyway, I don't get much computer time for the next week or two.
I fell out of bed and shattered the screen on my new laptop -THANK god for buying the extra insurance!
At the moment I'm borrowing my brother's laptop. but I can't make it work on Dial-up. I think he locked it so it can't go online. Even the wireless hub at my house won't work with it. So, until I can get my ancient tower system working, I'm at the mercy of the 'Techs' (And I use the term lightly)
I'll be able to clock in every few days by taking this thing back to my brother's house. I'll feel totally free again when I have mine repaired!
I seem to have pretty good luck with computers (I was a mainframe tech at one time) until lately. Now I have a fairly new tower at home that keeps rebooting into infinity, my last laptop had a problem so I took it to Circuit City to have it looked at. They lost my power converter and they replaced it with a 'generic' one. The whole thing blew the first time I tried to use it. FireDog? Then they said it had nothing to do with the work they did. BTW...Their advertised $59 FREE checkup - they plugged it in, turned it on, then told me it didn't work. DUH! They are not my my list of favorite places.
I have a vintage 1987 tower that still works,,,to a degree. I had a new CD ROM drive installed and it just sits there and opens and closes the tray unil I get tired of it and turn it off. I think I can fix that one myself. I was using to run my security system before I replaced it, now it's at my Dad's place (RIP) and I am trying to use it for the estate work as well as perimeter security. Just have to get tha CD ROM working right...
Anyway, I tend to ramble on and on, so jut tell me to shut up.
