I read about it in the NYT and said Hallelujah...a place (hopefully) for me to connect with people in my age group (I'm definitely not a MySpacer-tried it, found it creepy). That's why I joined.

As a bonus, I'm learning a lot from everyone here.

I am a "regular" at another site which is much like this in terms of intelligent and thoughtful responses. It is, however, not aimed specifically at Boomers, and I get tired of the idiot texters who can't spell and write long paragraphs with no punctuation. The moderator of that site recommended TBD to the boomer members, and I have been hooked since Day 1.

I wanted to meet people. Share ideas.

After talking to a 3 yr old all day, adult conversation is very welcome.

My grandson likes to talk. I need more to talk about than Thomas the Train. LOL

Tried the MySpace thing hoping to meet new friends and make connections with people my age. Boy was I surprised. Kept getting hit on by little girls young enough for my daughters.

And, yes, the most irritating thing are those who write and cannot use appropriate punctuation or spell check, or use terminology that I have no idea what they're talking about!! I always want to respond by saying..."Punctuation was implemented for a reason, and I don't understand ebonics, urbonics, yuppabonics, etc., so speak english!!" (am I an old fogie, or what?)

TBD is a great site. I've made some great connections and met some very nice people.

The part I'm truly grateful for is meeting people that have urged me to start my own business, and those who have given me ideas and the resources to pursue.

I saw an article about it in a magazine and thought this was a great idea. I haven't tried any of the other sites. I wasn't sure there were that many people my age on them. From reading a number of the entries it looks like it should be interesting.

I am interested in talking with someone about just about anything. I am not sure how to get involved in internet conversation so I could use some help.

Check out profiles, see what you have in common with other TBD members, invite them as a Friend, join discussion boards, or like me just start your own discussion. I'm pretty inquisitive and have a high curiousity about many things, so I just start discussions.

When I first joined, I had just broke up with my bo, so this was really a great venting mechanism for me!! LOL

Now, he's gone, I've vented, I feel better, and I've made friends!! LOL
