I recently became a new Grandma to a beautiful little boy. He seemed fine and healthy until we were told he needed testing done and something about a MS screening, Well my son (the Dad) had that part wrong. I went with them on the trip to the children's hospital 3 hours + away my son's fiance drove slow! lol Anyway We were taken to a waiting area and called in by the nurse, soon a geneticist came in. The Dr told us Cooper did not pass his screening when he was born which may mean he has metabolic genetic disorder/s. They did not tell us it was dangerous or life threatening but he would be on a strict health and diet plan all his life.. gave us some instructions like wake him every 2 to 3 hours to be sure he ate and to hang tight until the results were in about a week. Well I looked up this Disorder and wanted to cry! There is a very high risk of fatality in infants and they could not even ensure that the remedies or course of action to help him will even help in the long run. I read as it was stated Take Care Not To Alarm The Parents unless a positive diagnosis has been reached (was reading what the Dr and Health Providers would be reading) I hope my Son did not look it up as well... I just ask everyone to pray My little Cooper does not have this disorder and Thank You all so much in advance...Susan
