Grumpy Dog

My dog Gypsy is very grumpy.

Her hip hurts and she hates to walk uphill. She chased a rabbit yesterday and didn't come close. The rabbit stopped, turned around, and gave Gypsy the finger (or a paw, whatever). This has depressed Gypsy no end.

We are unsure what to do. Our other dog, Cleo, thinks Gypsy should be put to sleep. I said, "How can you be so cruel to your sister?" She shrugged, and then ran out to eat the rabbit.

I have hired a personal trainer and chiropractor to work on Gypsy. We are hoping for results, and if all goes well, there won't be a rabbit left for miles around.

How grumpy and how sad! Is Gypsy on any medication? It can make the world of difference to her and to you. Go ask her vet to see if there is an option that can ease her pain.

She is on loads of medication. I also make a special concoction for her each morning, with Udo's Oil and some good doggy vitamins.

Maybe it's just age...she's 11, but looks younger...good genes, I guess.

what a sweet girl! she's like us, a little grumpy at the limits aging puts on us. but she has you! and you take such good care of her, and she knows it and she loves you. and someday, after you die, she will meet you in the afterlife and she will show you how fast she can run and you will be together forever. best friends.

A beach swim is usually pretty good therapy, too. Glad she's got such a concerned owner. That's got to make her less grumpy!

i missed this new thread and think it's such a great idea.

i have recently moved and was very concerned about my 13+ year old calico cat, scout. she, like most cats, hate change, but she didn't get upset or hide too much which really surprised me. i don't know enough about pet behavior to know why this is. she seems far more relaxed here.

my problem though is when she gets grumpy, and she is lying on me or near me, she will get pissed off at me when i tell her that i'm getting up and she has to move - she understands this. and now she will claw at me and leave some serious scratch marks. no hissing, just that LOOK! lol

I wonder also if these changes in behavior are age related or something else. could she be sick? scout is an only cat and is treated like a princess, a princess with some rules like "don't scratch any leather furniture". but otherwise, she has a great life!

p.s. I have heard from a number of people in my neighborhood that chiropractic care is fabulous for dogs and cats as well as massage. I've met two people who's dogs were getting on in age and had painful arthritis. they took them for acupuncture and it had amazing results!

I hope that gypsy is doing well and is chasing whatever critter crosses her path!
