I think this would be a very interesting, break through event if it does happen...

That would be a very bold move on ABC's part.
What's your thought on the subject?
I think America should be past all this by now...but I can see it now--
Max this is an excellent question. I'm gonna be honest here. And this is my opinion. I don't know how I'd feel about it. The thought kind of makes me uneasy, but at the same time, I shouldn't feel that way. I would like to see how this works out. Couples do this all the time. But I can see people being uncomfortable.
I know I'm all over the place. But would I like to see them overcome this, break the barrier? Absolutely.
It could happen, two guys dancing together, but I don't think ABC will be the first network to try it.
Smokey, excellent response. Yes, it would be great, but it would also make a show that was devised to be pure entertainment into a social commentary. Is the audience for this show ready to be so challenged? As you asked, Maxim, that's the million-dollar question.
Personally, I don't like Lance Bass. He's too cheesy for me...I'm biased against the boy-band members. My swooning, screaming niece ruined them for me. How about Rupert Everett? Beautiful, sophisticated, suave. I'd watched him wrestle another man to the ground anyday. Opps, did I say that with my outside voice? Ummm, gotta go.
Thanks for your open and honest opinions. Kaybee you made an excellent point about social commentaries. Although it would be a huge move on the part of ABC for ground breaking entertainment, it would cast a shadow on the fact that it IS entertainment. And that's the sad part. This country should have outgrown this, but unfortunately, that's not the case.
Sapphire, I agree, if it will be done, it wouldn't be on local programming.
Smokey, thanks for your honesty.
P.S. I hate boy bands too! LOL!!!
My comment is going to come from a dance perspective, so please understand that first when you read my comments. I am stating my opinion as a former judge and current Instructor and someone who has lived a life about dance.
Ballroom dancing is choreographed for a man and a woman. It is not a sexual thing, it is a performance and a competition. Although the roles may create sexual tension and some partners may become involved...the bottom line is choreography is executed as a performance. The dancers play a role through the choreography that can only be accurately executed (in ballroom) in female and male dancing. There are simply moves that a most guys cannot do, and vice-versa (especially lifts and death spins, etc). To keep judging consistent and fair you must compare apples to apples.
There are many gay/lesbian dancers that partner dance all the time with members of the opposite sex. It is part of the role, just as some straight actors play gay roles in performances and as in the opposite. Role playing is part of choreography as it currently stands in competition.
Of course when it comes to dancing for one's own pleasure or health....heck dance with whomever you want! Go on...partner away...LOL. Non-competitive, or all the couples are male-male, then again....go ahead!
So I would really like to think that it is really not a political or social thing at all...it is a dance thing. It is a competitive thing. For that reason, I think that in this case, it should stay the same across the field.
I hope that makes sense. I did my best to explain my thoughts. (Sometimes it is a bit scrambled in there...LOL)
Again, this is just my opinion through my personal experiences. I am certainly open to others!
Very well stated Tuney! Again, another great perspective. So, the question is now--why would they even suggest such a thing in the first place unless they were looking for a reaction?
By looking at Tuney's statement that it's a performance and competition thing, put's in mind what the ulterior motive was for the press in releasing the statement.
Maybe a publicity stunt? :-)
Thanks for that insight Tuney!
