OK, there are some elements of this story that make suggestion or imagination unlikely. The only reasonable answer is pure coincidence. Not much to the story so I won't set it up or drag it out. Just the facts.
Years ago my buddy Roger and I were driving back to my house. We'd been down to Mardi Gras and we're drinking Heinekins and smoking some stinky bud. (It was a looong time ago, OK?) I'd have to check the death certificate to remember the year. Anyway. there we are driving along and we pull up to a 4-way stop. We had the windows down to let the smoke out. It was almost dark, about 6:00pm I guess. I heard a voice say "David" and it came from outside the car, my passenger side. Of course I looked out, there was nobody there, and I said to Roger "Huh?" He said "huh?". I said "Didn't you just say David?" "Uhh no!" he chuckled. Moment forgotten, we drove on. Next day I get a call, my dad died at about 6:00pm the previous night. Heart attack.
The voice? 6:00 p.m? wasn't that about the time we were driving home? Whats up with that?
Since I didn't know he was dead, I didn't just imagine that experience. There wasn't anything ghostly about it. I just thought I heard someone speak my name. when apparently nobody did. Was Roger screwing with me? didn't seem like it. If he'd done it three times and denied it each time I'd know he was fooling around. It wasn't like that.
Ever hear a voice say your name? Not voices talking (schizophrenia) or anythingt just one word - your name?
I think thats happened before but I can't swear to it. Maybe I've heard them say other things like "Dad". I don't know. Very strange though with the timing.
