i had an experience when my dad died after the funerl a week later me and my mother were waiting on the funerl director to come and when he did a cool breese came thru the house as he entered and when he tried to sit where my dad used to sit he could not. now mind you i had sat in my dad chair for days so we new my dad had come home. and he still walks and sits in his chair

Again, I'm late to the discussion LOL...but it was too interesting to pass up.

I think the word "ghost" is what hangs everybody up. I never use the word. For me it implies an ectoplasmic entity with about as much charisma as a bowl of jello.

I work with the dead all the time, in my capacity as a spiritual healer and they can be downright mean-spirited; frustratingly obstinate; confused about where they are; or pleasant and helpful. it all depends on their particular circumstances of life, dying and death.

Some I experience visually, others aurally. Ancestor veneration is a part of my daily life, so the dead are no strangers to me.

This is a fascinating subject. I have found a few things that I think about it. First, places, such as where there was a great loss of life or suffering. Like writing something on a pad of paper, those things were felt so deeply that they seemed imprint themselves upon time.

Then there are the others, I do not know what they are. I transcribed the diary of a Civil War soldier and there were times that I thought if I looked to my left, I would see him. I never did look to my left, because I was scared.

Scared? Of what? A man needing his story being told? A man that coincided with my life so much that my ex husband said that I was in love with a ghost? I know that sounds strange. Still true and created a book.

My best friend has this theory, when we dream about those we love, it is a way that they visit us. Isn't that nice? It took my years to those that I have loved to come to me in my dreams. I have read that grief is so powerful it stops them from coming to us.

I knew absolutely when my grandfather would die as much as I know the sun would shine tomorrow. I knew it. It happened. I prayed that I would not know ever such a thing again. I have not had it happen again so I still feel unsure about every bad thought that I have ever had and think that it will come true.
