My mom was bi-polar, her mom had some unnamed mental illness. I have, at the very least, chronic depression/social anxiety and will never ever give up my Paxil. My adult daughter has all the symptoms of bipolar disorder and was recently switched from Depakote to Lithium. I have ridden the roller coaster with them all. Have cried oceans of tears. Have been baffled by their behavior and by the inadequacies of the mental health system.

If I may please read your stories and share feelings from the other side (living with the bipolar person) perhaps it will help us all.
