Are you an author? What are some of your biggest publishing challenges?

Are you an author? What are some of your biggest publishing challenges?...

I don't have many publishing challenges but am willing to discuss the subject. I've been lucky to the extent that I actually published all my assignments from english and journalism classes. A writers market is a most valuable tool.
And, depending on what you write, you can publish in local newspapers. It's a free editorial service so you can republish in regional/national magazines.

I suppose my greatest challenge is finding a publisher interested in a non known writer.
While I've had some of my work published in bits and pieces, and a few whole it's always been freebies in newspapers.
My greatest challenge at the moment is finding someone interested/willing to take a chance on publishing my Father's memoirs.
You see he isn't famous, nor is he a politician who was caught with his mistress, nor an industrialist caught cheating investors, indeed nor is he a murderer.
Instead he could well be anyone's Father with their own interesting story to tell.
It seems such things aren't interesting to readers,at least thats what I keep getting told.
All the best to you
