I don't qualify to join this group but wanted to make the request that as your group grows, it would be a great and needed thing to start a second group... between law officials and the public at large. There is A LOT of public anxiety, feeling that we're loosing the war on crime and running out of prison/jail space. There was a time when we could say that the strongest deterrent to crime was to ensure the criminal that they were going to get caught so individual communities could rally to support hiring more officers. Now it's just almost meaningless. We have criminals as neighbors everywhere we go. Not uncommon to see elementary school aged children stealing with skilled street smarts, and trying to harass people like future gang members in training. People frequently hide things in baby strollers, etc. Children are being brought up to defy and detest authority figures. The question is: How do we now know how to help and when we are "barking up the wrong alley". We feel that the process has altogether become much more complex and we are literally not understanding it. What are your limits? How can we improve things all the way around?
