I did a search on webmd for the Asperger Syndrome! Very interesting! It's a shame they have no cure for it! I wonder why it's more common in males than females, and it cant be prevented! I have to do more research on this! sfco@ptd.net

I have done a search on google about Asperger Syndrome, and it basically said the same thing as webmd! How can you have AS, and not have some sort of Autism?

I teach special needs children and adults... I also have a husband and a daughter that have Asperger Syndrome. A.S. the higher functioning side of Autism. Those with A.S. will usually have small traits that will identify them with Autism, such as the need for weighted blankets when they sleep, the unsettled reaction with sudden changes, and so on. They will also have a higher than average IQ in most cases, but at the sametime not do well in reading and writing. Both my husband and daughter are also dyslexic, which is also common. May I ask what made you interested in this syndrome? I hope whatever the reason, you are able to get the information you need and any help should you be in need of it. cheers

There can not be a cure for A.S. until we find out what is causing it. My son (23) has it. I have heard that it could be caused by a traumatic birth experience, which he had, the Polio vaccine, which he had, However good news is A.S. does seem to be manageable. For instance, they (the experts) are starting to discover that wheat glutin is a contributing factor to how these people behave. I wish I would have known that when I was still in control of what he ate. It is also to be rumored that Bill Gates has A.S.

Wheat glutin----isnt that in just about everything we consume? As time goes on, does AS worsen? Lola, you are not blaming yourself are you? Everything happens for a reason! I could never handle a child with AS. God gave you a son with AS for a reason---you can handle it!! Is there any fund raisers or benefits done for AS? Around here they have whats called Dream Come True! They pick a child or a few children who have the same things wrong with them, and they set up accounts for all of them so their hospital, DR., and just expenses are covered! My Nephew was born with a major heart defect. Within 3 years, and 4 sergers later, his liver and kidneys were starting to go bad too! He needs a heart, liver, and kidney transplant in order to make it past 10 years of age! He is eight now, on a strict diet and taking allot of medications. My brother and sister in laws try to keep his life as normal as possible! He plays soccer and baseball. The coaches are aware of the situation, and they let Bobby play 1 play a game, then he's exhausted! At least he's allowed to participate without discrimination! If he doesnt get the transplant he will die within the next few years! My brother and sister in law have a strong faith in God that whatever happens--happens for a reason! I give the highest credit to people who take care of kids with special needs. Sorry I got off track there, I was just wondering if they do some type of benefits for AS? Sharon
