This discussion is of great interest to me! You have caused me to think about these two words: change and transition. I am wondering if there are no "takers" because change is not looked upon in a positive way? To me, "transition" sounds more positive and something which I have initiated. Whereas "change" evokes an idea of something happening without my initial input, although "change" can be positive if you embrace it.

Based on what I am thinking, I would like to explore the differences between transition and change, and how to positively embrace both in my life and the lives of my clients.

Maybe few replies because the subject is kind vague. What changes/transitions are you interested in?

I like your take on this. Actually change is what happens regardless, it is the surest to occur. Transition on the other hand is the myriad of emotional and other reactions which take place as we interpret the changes occurring and either get beaten down by them, capitalize on the opportunities they present, or rise above them. Your strong point is the 'embracing of change'.

Let me hear more from you on the types of changes that you or your clients find challenging or changes which if looked at from different perspectives could reveal opportunities for renewal etc.

Well, if you look at my profile. I am a certified Life Transitions Coach and the vagueness is to make the options open for anyone to enter the conversation, since as you know changes range from health to finances, from moving from one location to another to change in relationships. There are myriads. I am particularly concerned with changes that are experienced at mid-career and pre-retirement by professional women. Since this is not thesis writing, anyone experiencing and change could react to give voice to their fears, doubts, questioning etc. I encourage all to participate. Thanks.

I would like to learn how to express anger. I've spent too much precious energy over the years running from my anger, and anyone else's. Angry people, including myself, scare me. As a child I learned to equate anger with feeling unloved.

The impact of this realization is a little overwhelming, but that tells me I am ready now to learn new ways.
