I want a baby now but i am so scared! like you, when he is ten, i will be 52! i dont have any children and i dont know if i want a man around, that sounds crazy, but i want just a sperm donor. but, i am scared!

I understand, I am 44 and seriously looking into adoption as a single parent.I am scared but also excited and feel very deeply that this is something I need to do.I know some how it will all work out well.

i had my 8th (yes 8) and last baby at 44. we had always planned on the 7. didn't know that premenopausal years are your most fertile as a woman. why don't they put warning labels out about that? *smiles

my little surprise is now 3 and he has been the most fun of all.

i think children in our older years are great. we are more established and calmer maybe. 40 is the new 30 right? go for it! you'll love it!

I am now 43 and have been trying to conceive since I was 36. I'm not menopausal--my husband's sperm isn't that good and as I get older, it gets even more difficult.

My question to any of you out there is do you think being a parent in your 40s and 50s is worth it? We are considering adoption. Does anyone have any wisdom to offer about this?

We want a baby, too, but we can't seem to get pregnant after 7 years of trying. We tried everything,

went to doctors, etc. My husband has poor sperm, so

it wasn't in the cards for a biological child, unless I would leave him. I love him, so that's not an option.

I don't think I would find someone like him. I talked to him about a sperm donor, but he thinks that adoption is a better option. That way, we would both have the same experience.

A part of me says he's right. Another part of me says that it would be better if at least one of us were biologically related. The other aspect is there are many people who are pregnant and not ready to parent, so we would be helping a child find a family that really wants them and is ready to make the sacrifices.

52 isn't very old these days. Yes, you'll be older than most moms, but now that we have the internet, you can find 'meet up" groups with women who are your age who live in your area and who want to find other friends to do things with or talk with.

I can understand the anxiety you feel about it. We are wanting to adopt, too. It's one thing to just get pregnant and have it happen to you whether you're ready or not; it's another when you have to think so much about it.

Sometimes we can think ourselves right out of doing that what would make us the happiest simply because

it takes more waiting time for it to happen.

Im 50. My daughter turns 11 in Novemeber and my son turns 8 next week, and Im single, with primary physical custody of my children.

Its not easy, and its not always fun. but I do agree, Im a little more settled and able to deal with things better and I would not trade it for the world.

I waited partly by choice and then the rest was infertility issues as well. They are my sanity and strength. They rule my world no matter how crazy they make me.

small bit of wisdom: set a regular bed time asap. Dont recall how soon it starts but DO IT. and stick to it. 9pm is DADS time...heh
