They seem like a lot of money but are they really worth it. Also, what do you fellow winos think of those small tumbler Reidel glasses....how are they different from the stemware?

They're really nice, but I think Spieglau glasses are just about as good for about half the cost.
As for the stemless stuff, that's a fad that hasn't caught on with me yet. Unless I'm handling an armagnac or something, I prefer not to warm up the wine with my hands.

I got some for my wedding, and LOVE them. Are they worth it? I dunno. But they sure are elegant.

I've done the side by side taste test and the wine in the Reidel glasses did taste better -- but I'm convinced that it was because my friend (who I love to pieces) told me the wine would taste differently.
If you can afford them, I'd buy them. I think they are gorgeous.

I think they are worth it...I taste a lot at my restaurant accounts and we often use them. They make a difference and look swell-ditto for the Spieglau.
I don't own any because I am a dish-klutz and will break them all. If I could afford to replace them, I would most likely take the plunge.
There is a line of glassware that actually breathes and aerates the wine-the equivalent of decanting for an hour after only 2-4 mins in the glass. These really work...
As for stemless-yuck! Greasy mitts on the glass will gag your fellow diners.

I like a paper cup. The Dixie type are best with the wax coating. I never clean them, they don't break. Just toss them in the campfire and you're done. I may move to paper plates too.

Try the Connoisseur line of glasses from CostPlus/World Market. They are handblown, handcut glass. They are nicely shaped, well balanced, and inexpensive. $7 each! They come in most varietal shapes and hold up to their pricier competition.

Sorry for the late reply. New to group and website.
Yes. We did taste test and the glass does make even a cheaper wine taste better..notice I say taste better not great.
We have both stemless and stemed and the stemless are great because you can wash in the dishwasher and they have lasted for 2 years now. Just don't hit them on anything while warm.
The drawback on stemless is that yes, as someone else replied, it does warm up the wine.
Prices are better on the glasses now and even Bed Bath Beyond or Linens n Things carry them.
