I personally think that a lot of the black and white shows were the best. I used to watch Bewiched, Petticoat Junction, The Andy Griffith Show, The Addams Family, The Munsters, etc. MY soon to be year old daughter wouldn't thnk of watching black and white shows. She is missing out on a lot of great shows that could probably be seen on TV Land.

Today when I do watch a B/W show, I don't even realize it's not in color. As a child, it was a BIG deal to go next door to the banker's house to watch "The Wonderful World of Disney" in color. I was in Kindergarten or 1st Grade. My parents didn't buy their first color TV until I had left home after High School. I love the B/W movies as well as many of the TV shows.

It is just a filler and not that interesting. I like radio and music much better.

It seems like I had so many more CHOICES with the 6 channels (7 when PBS would come in) I had back in the '70s in my little PA town. Now there are so many channels, but not much interesting to watch. That's why I gave up my cable (and TV) and only do Netflix and the Internet.

We had the UHF convertor with the little round antenna, turned the tv to an off channel, and had to position not only the box and antenna, but wave our arms around and move around the room so the signal wouldn't keep fading in and out while we watched the Little Rascals and Superman reruns, or Lord Layton hosting Big Time Wrestling out of Windsor Ontario.

Nowadays I'm glad for documentaries, otherwise it's largely brainrot...even the news leaves me wondering just who the hell is deciding the content of my daily dose...

Um, I occasionally pull out and perform old TV theme songs in establishments where I play, (more of my hallmark unpredictable silly moments) and you wouldn't believe the reaction of the some of the patrons. They really like it, and it always generates a huge stream of requests for more of them. I've actually been knocked off my guitar stool as I was playing "Green Acres" while two women fought to get to the mic and "help" me sing the "New York is where I'd rather stay" part. And the Saturday morning cartoon theme songs usually develop into a drink-fueled chorus among the 50-somethings. (Could inciting this behavior get me labeled as a musical sociopath?)

Judy Robinson (Lost in Space) and Mary Ann Summers (Gilligan's Island) were HOT...but so were Betty Rubble and Ann Margrock.

And hey... I LIKED the Stooges...remember the one when they were cowboys in the saloon out west, and Curly saw a mouse, went berserk and yelled "Moe, Larry--CHEESE"...and then
