America is ready for A president be He or She Black White or Polka dotted. Was TV ready for an Oprah Winfrey?

The question should not be whether America is ready for him but is HE ready for anything more than a junior senator position. Am beginning to think maybe NOT. He's coming off a tiny bit slick. As for Oprah's influence--Honey Oprah's name ain't on the ballot.

Also, in 3 months I am the only one to comment on this page and I'm from freaking Montana. How much weight can I pull from here. We put a chicken plucking cattle butcher in as junior senator in the last election. Does that tell you where we are in national politics?
Getting tired of talking to myself. Bye now

Okay so he wins Iowa. Hope nobody tells him that noone else really wanted Iowa. Iowa, in an election for national office, is about as representative as the south Bronx. Still, it is nice to see that an African-American can make the cut in a lily white area of America. A shame he's not also a woman. Then we could dispense with TWO myths that seem to cling to this country in spite of the wars we've fought and the laws that have been written to the contrary; namely, that we are a bunch of racists and gender bigots. Go Obama baby. One down and 49 to go.

Okay, hold on a second, don't break out the bubbly just yet. keep it on ice for a few more weeks and let's see how things tumble. Iowa is the Snake Bite Primary.
It's as if you were out in the bush--a long way out and you get bit by a snake. You don't know whether that vipers venom is lethal or just a nuisance; so you start trekking to the nearest doctor, medicine man--whatever, and in a few hours--certainly within a day or two you will know whether or not that sucker was a killer. (well if it just sucks on you, never mind).
For Obama, Iowa could turn out to be an egg-sucking freak show because Iowanians (sp.) are so neglected in the national consciousness that they may do anything to make the front page. Let's calm down and wait and see how New Hampshire goes and then super Tuesday. That is when--I hate myself for saying this--the boys are going to be separated from the girls. That is when the heavy hitters come up to bat and take the infielders out of the game. We are talking smacktown U.S.A. and one of them could still very well be a graduate of Wellesley,.an All-Girl School just west of Hahvad. Bye

wmans, you do not come across with the hard, bitter edge in your emails. Why here? People are never going to be perfect and unfortunately prejudices abound but as humans I believe we are progressing albeit slowly, amazingly slow but yet moving forward. What I would fear as I know Obama's family does is that his life will be at risk because of course there are those out there who will view themselves as heroes if they take his life. I therefore look at his additional tremendous courage to still be willing to be out there and his willingness to lead this nation. His leadership is all over the place. The inspiration I gain from knowing there are individuals out there like him gives me unending hope for humanity and the planet.

Annie, I wish I had seen this posting sooner. I have been behind Obama since day one. I also have a great deal of admiration for Edwards, Clinton, Paul, and others but Obama is magical for me in his wonderous leadership. It will be a new age, a new day, a new life of hope and courage when he is elected. Our country can finally feel we have begun to move past the dark ages of our history of slavery, discrimination, segregation, and ignorance. I think the young people are speaking in this country and halleluia for that!
