Cross Fox in Denali National Park, Alaska
I traveled to Alaska in August '08 and had a wonderful time. I joined a cruise from Vancouver to Skagway, then went from there to White Horse to Beaver Creek to Fairbanks to Denali and finished in Anchorage and Seward. Once in Skagway the remainder of the trip was by various means including bus, boat, steam train, and small plane and was extremely exciting and educational.
I would encourage anyone with the means to be sure to visit Alaska. They call it "the last great frontier" and it really is...

Hello teacup ... depends on what you want to if you come here. There are many ways to see and experience Alaska ... some are expensive, some are not. Even so, you can always experience the world through your internet portal on the world! Thanks for your note.
I did quite a bit of traveling B.C. (before children!) but once they arrived, I despaired of ever realizing my dream of visiting Alaska. Then, much to my amazement, I was invited on a family reunion cruise with my daughter, which would take us up through the inside passage of Southeastern Alaska. In fact, last year on this very day, I was soaking in the splendor of Tracy Arm. People say that you can't really "know" Alaska from the deck of a cruise ship, and I would agree, but only to a point. What that cruise has done is instilled in me an almost insatiable need and desire to return and see as much as I possibly can. When I left AK, I left a part of my heart there. And I will have to go back to find it.

Hi Lisami ... Funny you should say that "I left a part of my heart there. And I will have to go back to find it." That sounds suspiciously like an expression we have here ... "Once you visit Alaska, a little part of you will never never leave and you'll need to come back to find it." True story. Many people end up moving here that way. So ... when are you coming back??
