Nice to hear from you Afrodile ...Anchorage is known as the city of "Lights and Flowers" .... Lights in the winter and Flowers in the summer. If you are a hiker or backpacker, the alpine meadows are covered with flowers all summer long. Thanks for dropping in!
Thanks for posting those luscious photos, Jon. I've seen pictures of Denali National Park abloom with wild flowers - Staggering! The depth and variety of Alaska's beauty never fails to amaze.
I spent the 4th of July in and around Seward, Alaska ... Here are some representative images.

In a quiet place I found dried grass tied in worm eaten wood.

Resurrection River is violent during the melt or rain. Islands come and go.
Your photos are just beautiful. I notice there is not a photo of fireweed. I remember fields (or meadows) of fireweed near the little Susitna river when I was a kid. It's probably gone now, as that was 50 years ago but it was really gorgeous. Do you have some fireweed pictures you could post?
Here are some fireweed shots for you, Carol. These are from last year. The fireweed this year haven't really started to bloom yet, but it won't be long. Enjoy.

Thank you for the pictures. I was fortunate enough to visit Alaska last year around this time!! It was a trip that I will never forget. Absolutely breathtaking whether it was a sunny or overcast day (which by the way, I didn't see many)! I often look at my pictures and daydream of being there once again! I will go back someday....
