Imgaine how much more blessed
when next May
a similar hummer
perhaps, even, the same,
will reappear in your yard,
having flown at night
across the deadly Gulf of Mexico

Greetings,
Remain in a state of mild awe at this adventure known as "birding." Mr. Atowhee, I joined your fine group early on as I had fairly recently acknowledged in myself a latent birder. Only to find I am no birder at all; only one who feels blessed to live in the same world with such creatures. So I haven't been much of a participant. But wanted to take this moment to share a beautiful and encouraging piece from the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, Sunday, 18 November. It concerns the "recovery in progress" of the migratory path known as the Pacific Flyway. Glen Martin, the author, is long-revered for his writing on nature and the environment and the photographs by Christina Koci Hernandez are so beautiful and mysterious as to make one weep.
Regrettably all I can provide is this link:

and one of the evocative photographs.
Keep up your good work here. I stop in and read regularly and what I find here only serves to fuel my journeyman's passion for the avian universe.
