Expect most of you probably know me. I'll say it now, I was more or less a no-account in my life. I knew my share of suffering and I brought a lot of it down on myself. I blew the best chance I ever had at lifting myself up out of trouble and poverty and meanness. And I went out too hard too early.
But I had a shining moment, one folks everywhere - around the world - have never forgot. It was on May 1, 1992, when I said, "Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we're all stuck here for a while. Let's try to work it out."
Anyway, akabukowski and me go back a ways. I can't tell you all I know but I can tell you this. She's good people. She acts damn strange a lot of the time, and walks and talks as tough as any homie I ever knew, and she has some pretty sad and scary secrets, but she's fair and honest and wants folks to have fun and get along.
I'll be at the party next Friday night, keeping an eye, helping if I can. In the end there's only one damn rule in this crazy ass world that's worth living by...and that's the golden one.
